While many of us will probably never completely return to the old ways of working that we saw before the pandemic, many businesses have started adopting hybrid models – combining working at home and working in the office.
As businesses have been making tentative steps back to the office in recent months, each has adopted its own different approach. One thing that should remain consistent, however, is your approach to office hygiene.
While it is no longer a mandatory requirement to isolate if you test positive for COVID-19, many places will still be utilising Covid-safe practices to minimise the risks of spreading the virus and their employees getting sick.
With this in mind, the team here at Envirotec Hygiene Services has put together a handy coronavirus cleaning guide, helping you know what to look out for to ensure your working environment is as safe as possible.
Stock up on hand sanitiser
Face masks and hand sanitiser joined the golden trio of phone, wallet and keys when out and about during the pandemic, and these are things you should still ensure you’re well stocked with at the office, too.
This is particularly the case with hand sanitisers, as good hand hygiene is the main defence against COVID-19 and other viruses. Ensure that your office has plenty of hand sanitisers available for people to use, including in communal areas as well as bathrooms.
Also, it’s important to make sure that the hand sanitiser you install at your office has an alcohol level of at least 60%. Anything less than this will not eradicate the COVID-19 virus.
Ensure regular cleaning takes place
If there’s one positive thing to take from the pandemic, it’s that it’s forced us all to be a bit more considerate of one another and ensure that we’re all more conscious about the spread of germs.
While your business likely had regular cleaning services anyway, it’s more important than ever to ensure that every aspect of your office is being thoroughly cleaned.
This includes:
- Desks
- Doorknobs
- Phones
- Computer equipment
- Light switches
- Tables
- Surfaces
- Water coolers
Don’t neglect your toilets
Bathrooms are one of the most common areas where viruses and germs will spread. With this in mind, we’d always recommend that you acquire the services of a dedicated commercial cleaning company that can take care of all your washroom services.
Some things you can do yourself include ensuring toilet paper and soap are readily available, all toilet bins are frequently removed and emptied and you have signage in place that encourages good hand hygiene among staff members.
Encourage safe cleaning practices among staff
One of the most effective ways to keep your business protected from COVID-19 and other types of illness is to instil a positive cleaning culture among your staff. In an age where hot-desking has become the norm, this can include simple things such as wiping down desks before and after using them, using anti-bacterial spray on surfaces and encouraging people to tidy up after themselves in communal areas like kitchens.
These small steps can go a long way to keeping everyone safe from harm.
At Envirotec Hygiene Services, we’ve helped clients in a wide range of industries with a number of cleaning services that can keep everyone safe. Operating throughout Sheffield, Leeds, Nottingham and beyond, get in touch with our team today to find out more.
